All About Terrie Dabit

I relocated to Alabama in 1985 when my father, who was an Army officer, transferred to Ft. McClellan. Prior to moving to Alabama, I lived all over the United States and Germany. I currently reside in Oxford, AL. The two most important men in my life have to be my sons - Elias and Samuel. I graduated from Saks High in 1987 where my interest in math was first sparked by my AP Calculus teacher, Mrs. Haynes. I always had a passion for math, but she showed me what a great teacher was really like. I truly credit my love for teaching math to her!
After high school I began Jacksonville State University from where I received Bachelor Certification in Special Education - Emotional Disturbed, and Secondary Math and a Minor in Corrections. My Masters Degrees are in Administration and Special Education - Mild Learning Handicaps. My most recent degree, Educational Specialist, is in Collaborative Education. I also completed 24 graduate hours in math at Jacksonville State University, University of Alabama - Gadsden Center, and Strayer University.
My teaching career began in 1994 working for school systems throughout central and eastern Alabama. I taught grades 6 - 12 for 14 years. For five of those years I taught for Alabama Department of Youth Services in a boys boot camp (Camp Lewis) and a maximum security prison for juvenile females (Chalkville Campus). During my tenure with public education (7 - 12) I performed extensive tutoring for the Alabama High School Graduation Exam, ACT Aspire, and ACT, and have sponsored math teams for grades 6 - Algebra 1. We went to competitions at the Alabama Schools of Fine Arts, Grissom High, Hoover High, and Pizitz Middle. In 2008, I added post-secondary to my teaching day when I became an instructor for ITT Tech in Birmingham, AL. Since then I have taught for Gadsden State Community College - Ayers Campus, Strayer University, and currently with Miles College.
TNT CENTER first opened in 1996 where we offered math tutoring and proctoring service for online learners. Throughout the years the center continued to provide these services to local residents. In 2011, TNT Center began providing instruction for local homeschool students. Small group math classes and individual classes were held at local churches, schools, and libraries. In 2014 the center launched its webpage and offered a way for prospective students to learn about the center online; eCommerce was also added as a method of payment for services. In 2015, ACT Camps and individual tutoring for the exam were added to the services offered. The first ACT Camp was in November 2015 in Ragland, AL. Online tutoring was added in 2016 for students that were too far to travel or wanted the online experience. In 2018, full online math courses were designed for homeschool students that use both asynchronous and synchronous styles of learning.
When I am not teaching, my passion is construction, remodeling, and flipping property. I have remodeled several homes and love watching a run down, out-dated piece of property turn into a nice investment. I enjoy relaxing in front of my favorite television show, especially catching up with the several reality shows that I watch. I follow: Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, Hell's Kitchen, The Challenge, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and others. I would love to compete in a DIY / Flip type show, Amazing Race, or Survivor. Lastly, I spend my Saturdays in the Fall glued to college football. My allegiance is to the Auburn Tigers -- War Eagle!
